In the world of Complimentary and Alternative Medicine, vibrational/sound therapy is gaining popularity.
Quantum physics has proven that everything has vibration, wherever there is a sound there is vibration. This means, all human body's have vibration.
This vibration is a signature of our health and wellbeing. It is the natural result of the processes that run our physical bodies as well as our mental, emotional and subtle bodies. For example, as your heart beats, it releases a certain rhythm and vibration through out your body. So does your stomach as its muscles churn to digest food. Similarly, your blood, as it whooshes through your arteries and veins, produces a particular sound/vibration through your body. Just like a musical instrument that can fall out of tune through use, our bodies can also fall out of vibrational harmony potentially leading to the development of illness. Stress can negativity create blockages of a healthy flow of energy which initially show up in the energy field around your body as lower energy disturbances, and later as illness in your physical body.
Vibrational or Sound Therapy is well known for its ability to reduce inflammation, chronic pain, and anxiety, lower heart rate, improve sleep and concentration, help with PTSD symptoms, arthritis, digestive issues, improve immunity, stimulate life force flow in the body, harmonize the chakras , heighten intuition and perception, synchronize the brain hemispheres, remove mental and emotional negativity, even enhance creativity and much much more.
When used as a regular therapy, the relaxing sounds and soothing vibrations of the bowls may release stored emotional and energetic blockages, allowing the body to begin to de-stress, mend and repair.
When there is a deep relaxation through soothing resonant sound, the body is affected on a cellular level, opening up the flow of energy to move us back toward vibrational alignment and health. Sound can help us shift our energy frequency from lower to higher, removing the lower frequencies of emotions such as fear, anger, and resentment.
70% of the human body is made up of water, so, just like when you through a stone into a pond, when you strike a singing bowl next to or on your body, the vibration ripples out and creates a mandala (a pattern) in your body, which is both healing and relaxing.
We provide Acupuncture in Foxborough which can improve your energy levels, health and well-being with regular acupuncture treatment. Whether you feel "fine" or just "so-so", or you are struggling with health issues that may have plagued you for many weeks, months or years, regular acupuncture can help you, regardless of the nature of your health challenge.
Disease does not easily enter a healthy body with a strong immune system. Your symptoms (for example, pain, PMS, headaches, digestive troubles, insomnia, depression, hot flashes) are a sign that your body is out of balance.
It's a simple equation: imbalance or disharmony = pain or disease
Acupuncture treatments (along with possible lifestyle modifications) nudge the body back into balance - one treatment at a time. The more frequently and consistently you are treated, the more easily your body moves toward its goal of harmony and balance.
Most patients who come in for one troublesome issue (what we call the main complaint), often wind up telling me that in addition to the improvement in their main complaint, they also find other things improving - like sleep or digestion or stress levels. That is the beauty of acupuncture!
Let us explain acupuncture a little more
Oriental Medicine is the oldest, continuously evolving medicine on earth. Ancient written texts date back 1800 years, with a prior oral history over 5000 years. Three-quarters of the world’s population utilizes this unique and powerful medicine.
The body is always striving towards balance; we are homodynamic - moving in and out of balance. Balance is not a static condition but a gentle, graceful ebb and flow. Pain and disease is the result of an obstruction of the free flow of Qi and Blood. Acupuncture is an effective form of health care that activates the body’s “Qi”/energy by removing obstacles in meridian pathways. These pathways are like energy aquifers in our body and the acupuncture releases pressure and tension, much like springs do for aquifers.
Acupuncture is the insertion of very fine, sterile, solid needles into specific points on the body to facilitate the free flow of Qi (Vital energy) and Blood (Vital substance) to bring the body and mind to a state of balance and harmony. Acupuncture relieves pain and inflammation while promoting natural healing by stimulating the release of neurotransmitters that influence the immune and anti-nociceptive systems. It relaxes muscles and improves blood flow and nerve conduction.
Treatments Offered In Acupuncture
Acupuncture
Chinese medical theory explains illness as an imbalance of opposing forces called yin and yang. This imbalance disrupts the movement of the body's vital energy (qi) along the meridian pathways, which are channels through which the body's energy flows.
Acupuncture directs the flow of qi. The needles are extremely fine - about the circumference of a cat's whisker, and are pre-sterilized and used only one time and then discarded. By inserting and manipulating needles at specific points on the body, acupuncturists seek to promote the body's ability to heal itself.
Cupping
*Cupping is an ancient technique, used in many cultures, in which a special cup is applied to the skin and held in place by suction. The suction draws superficial tissue into the cup, which may either be left in place or moved along the body (called sliding cups). Cupping brings fresh blood to the area and helps improve circulation. Traditional cupping, sometimes referred to as “fire cupping," uses a flame to quickly remove the oxygen from inside a glass cup which will create a vacuum-like suction, thereby pulling the skin inside when it is immediately placed on the body. In modern times, cups that use a small pump to create suction have also been introduced. Strong sliding cups can feel like a very deep and powerful massage, releasing knots and muscle spasms.
*Cupping can be scheduled as a stand-alone treatment as we offer Cupping in Foxborough.
Gua Sha
Gua Sha means Scraping Sand. Also known as spooning or coining, a technique whereby a ceramic spoon or another smooth-edged tool is used to scoop the skin in rhythmic motion. This technique promotes the circulation of blood and "qi", relieving tension and discomfort. The "sand" is actually little red dots that appear on the skin as the muscles release the blood that has gotten stuck because of the tightness and tension of the muscle fibers.
Moxa (moxibustion)
Moxa is made of an herb called artemis vulgaris (or mugwort), which has healing properties and is burned to warm a certain acupuncture point, or an area of the body. It may be in the form of a ball the size of a marble on the head of the needle, or it may be in the form of a compressed stick that the practitioner holds near a needle or over an area of the body. We do not allow it to get too close to the skin, so there is no danger of being burned. Moxa is used to amplify the work of the needles or for warming when the condition is considered a "cold condition" in the paradigm of Chinese Medicine. Patients report that it feels awesome! PS - it also smells a little like marijuana, so don't worry that someone is smoking pot in the clinic! This is part of our holistic health regimen.
